Just a few snapshots from our family day. We woke up Sunday morning to sunshine and warmer weather. Dressed in our Sunday duds we stopped by a friend’s church to hear his lovely wife sing. And wow! She has the voice of an angel! Jackie, you truly are blessed with a special gift from God!
A quick bite of lunch and then we decided to just stroll around an older section of town and enjoy looking at the different buildings. This of course meant a few photo stops along the way. These photos may not be perfection for the photography world but they tell the story of our perfect family day…relaxed, together, happy.
Simple Sunday family photos
This sweet little girl is a true fashionista. I don’t think I have ever seen her wear the same outfit twice and she wears them all with sass and sweetness. Her mom is a very dear friend of mine and I was thrilled to have them visit us in Ohio for a birthday photo shoot.

So the kids and I were driving around the other day scoping out new photography locations. As we crept thru this tiny town (not even a single stop light!) I noticed a rather old barn near the side of the road. It seemed perfect! It was a little weathered, a nice red color, had a parking lot in front of it for easy access, just everything I was looking for. I drove past it but it kept cropping up in my mind so I turned around and went back. I hopped out of the van and headed for the door of the house nearest the barn. I was full of enthusiam and excitement for my newest location. I knocked on the door and waited….but not for long… From the other side of the door I heard the loudest, meanest snarling and barking I’ve heard in a long time (and definitely the closest I’ve been to such racket!). I wanted to run then and there but I could see the man walking to the door and I wasn’t sure how I would explain my running away to the kids. Then I heard the dogs being kicked! That almost did me in. But I stood my ground, smiled sweetly and asked kindly if I could use the barn for photography. He said sure. I got the kids and took the fastest set of shots possible and we went on our way.
I’m still looking for the perfect barn…..
We had such a great time photographing this family. They are dear friends of ours and genuinely great people. The kids from both families didn’t understand why they weren’t playing and our kids kept trying to creep into the photos.
